We are malnourished by design

This blog is - according to the 20Sux 'favourites' scheme - ten times more popular than this blog. Apparently, this is not ridiculous.

I am at a loss, why shouldn't she be more popular? Why should popularity be this big thing? The one is more popular than the other because she comments a lot and has made a lot of friends on here, while the other has not taken the same approach, by choice. Its not that either blog is neccesarily better or worse, because popularity is not the same as percieved merit, its just what it says it is, popularity.

(30.10.05 01:08)
yeah, they're ordered funny because they reset the server clock a little after 1:30 so the time tags the server sees are for daylight savings...

(30.10.05 01:12)
You know, it's really not a popularity contest. Although if it was I would totally fucking win.

(30.10.05 01:14)
Ahh, Poutrelle could whup yo' ass 'boon

(30.10.05 01:23)
Goodness, I had no idea there were so many 20six conspiracy theories. I bet they shot JFK too, the bastards.

(30.10.05 01:28)
Yeah, but it's not about the blogs, is it? It's about the commenting. For most people it's a chatroom not a gallery. Ridiculous but obvious, really.

(30.10.05 01:30)
thumper: I'm flattered that you'd like to meet me for a "man to man chat" (over ciagars and a fine cognac perhaps?) but I'm afraid it's really not polite to ask - if you want membership of the 20six illuminati you're just going to have to wait for an invite.

Isn't that right, Pete?

(30.10.05 01:35)
"So many people know the influence Menace and KateEvans wield."

After a hard day's wielding influence there's nothing Kate and I like more than reading one of our favourite blogs. I like Sammyface but Kate prefers Honest Mr Hoverfrog.

But I must say I'm concerned that knowlege of our influence seems to have reached the likes of this "thumper" oik. Peterj, work harder at the disinformation or we pull the plug on Chintzybling!

(30.10.05 01:36)
I call JoJo the main lady because she works for 20six, and is a blogger lots of bloggers appreciate, so what? I call Queener "your majesty" sometimes too, but it doesn't mean I expect you to bow too her. Menace and Kate have influence only the same as any bloggers have influence, in the way that they write and if people decided they like that then they read, they have been around since right near the start and have always been popular blogs because they're good at it, why should it be any more complicated than that?

(30.10.05 01:37)
I have just realised that I am in 34 people's favourites. So I would do well not to piss on the mouth that feeds. By the by, would anyone like to see my tits ?

(30.10.05 01:37)
Sorry Menace, I don't know how it happened, I'll warn the relevant people and make sure there are no more leaks.

(30.10.05 01:39)
It's easy to write somebody off as a deluded conspiracy theorist but, of course, I'm certainly not. Look, the way I see it is like this. There is no glitterati and no illuminati or whatever. The fact is you and your other half wield an influence over 20six that is not granted to anyone else here. If that's "illuminati", then so be it. I think it sounds too grand.
It's so obvious. To me, it seems a case of 'put up or shut up'. I'm not going to put up or shut up so I'll just have to fuck off. Hopefully people who pay for their blogs will be informed about that from the get-go. Being slightly sceptical, I don't think so unfortunately.

(30.10.05 01:40)
have you been holding out on us menace? Could I have a bigger blog please? And a new hat?

(30.10.05 01:41)
No, I agree. Some people's favourites lists are full of dross. For example, have a look at what this sycophantic little scrote lists as his favourite blogs. Now there's a parade of blogging talent if ever I saw one. Still, each to their own, eh thumper?

(30.10.05 01:42)
e_b: I'll have to clear the bigger blog with KE, but a sombrero is in the post. Or I can do you a genuine Canadian toque?

thumper: easy but still fun.

(30.10.05 01:45)
Please, tell me one instance of Menace and Kate's "Influence" go on? Just one? You can't prove a thing they hide there tracks well

And really falling back on the 'ooh he's single' line? Menace, I'd like a girlfriend, please sort this.

(30.10.05 01:49)
thumper: calm down there lad. Swearing doesn't suit an eloquent mouth like yours, and all's fair in love and blog as they say. By the way you haven't posted in a while: any reason? Focomo I mean. Obviously noodlum and bruiser have gone their separate ways.

Zvest!

(30.10.05 01:58)
Redchic has a very, very, very (too many very's? I think not.....) very, very, very good point.

(30.10.05 02:16)
Mate, I knew it was you because you banned me from commenting on Focomo from day one. That and the style (if you can call it that) was identical. You're see-through, pal!

(30.10.05 02:20)
all because I criticised your missus. Jesus..

(30.10.05 02:28)
Yes. I have special powers. In all honesty, thumper, you're one of the few things that keeps me coming back to 20six these days. Predictable, yes, but predictably hilarious.

(30.10.05 02:53)
Let the record show that thumper has deleted numerous of his own comments, including the one in which he noted that "so many people know the influence Menace and KateEvans wield" and the one where he proudly claimed responsibility for his fourth incarnation, "Focomo". Oh, and the other ones where he sulked, advanced various bizarre conspiracy theories, got rather excited about some strangers on the internet, and generally acted like a little baby.

(30.10.05 02:57)
menace, you heard everything I had to say to you. Now go and do something useful instead you thieving scouse.

(30.10.05 03:09)
"thieving scouse"! My god, the man is an original wit! If I were a scouser I'd steal his sense of humour!

n.b. out of interest, why did you delete all those comments, thumper?

(30.10.05 03:24)
I think 20six is poorer in particular for the comment where you said to me "It's easy to throw mud, you cunt". Or was it "sling mud"? We'll never know.

(30.10.05 08:23)
It was "throw". You can find out very easily, as all the comments are still sitting in my inbox.

(30.10.05 21:49)
Ha ha. I'm a tad disappointed to see I'm not the only one who can make focomo's blood boil. He stopped blogging for an afternoon and - I suspect - deleted his blog temporarily because I dared suggest he might have been wrong in something and proved it.

(31.10.05 10:16)
Dammit. These comments make no sense. How am I supposed to get my vicarious drama with half the comments missing?

(31.10.05 12:24)
Norah, just imaging someone inventing a raving conspiracy theory about some bizzare sort of 20six mind control being villanously perpetrated to make sure that only blogs favoured by menace and kate ever get anywhere, and that all resistance is stifled. Or something like that. Then imagine that the more far-fetched their argument became, the more he resorted to insults and agression, before eventually deleting his own arguments...

(31.10.05 14:13)
Stench you'll need to promise more than just tits if you want to climb that greasy pole.
Though you can climb mine any time you like.

(31.10.05 21:04)
sorry about this, but my blogging work sheet didn't come through this week and I didn't know if Kate and Menace wanted me to be blogging about autumn in Switzerland or whether I should be going for the self-pitying stuff or if I had a week off and I wondered if someone here would know. Obviously, I've had to let the monkeys go. Anyway, if you'll let me know. I could blog about tits if they wanted me to but it would take me a day or two to do some research. Or maybe not.

(31.10.05 21:35)
Well I just got a sheet through saying I'm supposed to get my tits out to a background of autumn in the Swiss mountains. I don't suppose anyone got instructions to draw shakey stick figures illustrating minutiae of their lives? Wanna swap?

(31.10.05 22:06)
Sorry ladies - Kate and I have been extra busy this week wielding influence. I've been trying to sort out a girlfriend for Peterj - no luck so far, I might have to head out to Eastern Europe (Slovenia?) - while Kate's been taking out 30-second prime-time advertising slots in the Superbowl and World Cup final with which to plug her favourite blogs.

(31.10.05 22:15)
Menace, Slovenia sounds ok, maybe you and Kate should consider launching 20six.ru to catch all those former eastern bloc bloggers. Also, remind Kate to get in early with sponsoring the 2012 olympics too, she wouldn't want to miss that!

(1.11.05 00:50)
Central Europe. Get it right. Central Europe. As for the paranoid, "the world is out to get me" thing...well, it's laughable, really. Well, I'm laughing. You just carry on...

(1.11.05 12:10)
Oddly enough I thought Slovenia was a former eastern bloc country and this website (the first one I found), puts Slovenia in eastern Europe.

(1.11.05 12:19)
Isn't that so very odd H, and yes, further to that it was apparently a member of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which was as we all know, definatly Eastern Bloc, and it gained its independance after the fall of COmmunism in Russia.

(1.11.05 12:24)
*makes note: eastern bloc*

(1.11.05 12:29)
Not a signatory to the Warsaw pact. Nuff said.

(1.11.05 12:39)
and very much up for debate, granted, but really a question of perspective. Geographically, it's central. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia could be called east amongst others. Likewise, Iceland is the western extremity. I think you'll find Slovenia (bordering Italy and Austra (western countries, (n'est-ce pas Pete?) is certainly centrally located. This is boring me to tears. I don't mind having a debate, but you're just so wrong. I don't blame you for falling back on cliches and prejudices though. I'd expect nothing more! x

(1.11.05 12:40)
Communist state. Nuff said.

(1.11.05 12:42)
I don't see how any of this is helping me to get my sombrero.

(1.11.05 12:45)
Are you sure its a sombrero you want 'boon? What about some Leansk Cossack headwear? It is coming up to winter, after all.

Thumper, you do agree that Russia is eastern bloc, right?

(1.11.05 12:45)
So is Cuba. Outdated or present politcal ideologies do not necessarily indicate geographical location. Didn't you know that 'comrade'?

(1.11.05 12:45)
Russia straddles Asia and Europe. Do you not have a map handy?

(1.11.05 12:47)
Around the world in 80 days by Comrade Pete. Hilarious.

(1.11.05 12:50)
No, that one was by Jules Verne, I thought a pedantic tosser like yourself would have known that.

(1.11.05 12:55)
oohh, he's bitten! Doesn't take much does it? Fact is, you know very little about Communism/"your creative whim" or geography. Put them both together and you're pretty flummoxed, aren't you? Jesus, this is funny.

(1.11.05 13:02)
Flummoxed? Nope, not really. Anyone can go to wikipedia or wherever you went and find out things, it hardly shows you to be a genius...

(1.11.05 13:04)
Hmm..wikipedia. Not the most reliable of sources. As for me being a genius? I can't be. I work in a post room and got two GCSEs. I think that says more about you than it does about me. x

(1.11.05 13:09)
See you round AMP. It was nice exercising my inferior, mail room intellect with someone so equally matched. lol x

(1.11.05 13:20)
I must have missed that match up, I saw you score some cheap points by being pedantic while neatly changing the subject from your insane theories. Btw, do all of your multiple personalities work in the mail room? Or just this one?

(1.11.05 13:24)
You call it pedantic. I call it 'correcting incorrect assumptions'. You missed the match-up? Never mind. Insane theories? I think you have a rather limited grasp of what constitutes sanity. Multiple personalities in the 'mail room'? Plenty. *ROFL*

(1.11.05 13:28)
The funny thing is that I have problems tying up my own shoe laces and I'm still engaging your 'superior' intellect enough for you to come back here repeatedly calling me a 'tosser' and 'insane'. Instead of casting aspersions on my character, I think you need to take a quick look at yourself. Could I suggest ten Hail Marys for starters? x

(1.11.05 13:29)
And a debatable assumption about the political loyalties of a country, is what to do with the point here? Sorry, I missed that? What was that?

Oh yes, its nothing to do with the point, it just diverts you from justifing your BS that you spread around.

(1.11.05 13:33)
What on earth is going on here? Pete, ignore him. Whoever it is - thumped/focomo whatever. Ignore him.

(1.11.05 13:33)
I think I'm going to do the Christian thing here and 'turn the other cheek'. x

(1.11.05 13:35)
Well, if you knew the first thing about religion you would know that only Catholics say Hail Marys, so that must void that point. Being Pedantic? Nope, as you say, we must correct incorrect assumptions.

And what you need to do is remeber that my argument is based on all those comments off the other night. Why delete them if they didn't make you sound nuts?

(1.11.05 13:42)
Your perception of me doesn't bother me really. Laurieloo has met me and so has James. I certainly felt I got on with the both of them and they seemed like nice people. If they thought I was 'nuts' then, they certainly didn't make it clear to me. Maybe I was just too crazy to notice?
My point was that I thought that menace and Kate exert a disproportionate amount of influence on 20six than everyone else. In their defence, they used the 'he's a nutter' angle to dismiss my comments which is easily done. That was one of the reasons I deleted my comments - because I knew that if you throw enough mud, it tends to stick.
I was also drunk as a lord when I had that 'debate' with you and I always tend to regret things when I'm drunk.
Is that clearer now?

(1.11.05 13:54)
I will not judge, because I am a Christian (and please don’t even start the hail mary gags with me FoCoMo) but from what I have read, you have said some hurtful things on here and it seems to me that you have taken 20six far too seriously. This isn’t the first time this has happened and am sure it wont be the last.

(1.11.05 13:57)
Can I just say, I agree that we should all just ignore him. But, Pete, in my experience so far, is quite a bit cleverer and keeps an open mind about things rather than making ridiculous statements and sticking to them, like focomo has so far in my experience. Secondly, this is all bollocks. Thirdly, I have never read Menace's blog or Kate's in any real detail - horses for courses, etc. and finally, that favourite's list on the main page - it ended where it did because Jojo had better things to do than keep updating it after then. Quite a few of us, myself included, made similar lists to that - it was fate it ended up on that.
So, in sum, balls. I'm going back to do some work now that lunch has ended.

(1.11.05 14:02)
Laurieloo, fair enough. All I'm doing is giving as good as I'm getting.

(1.11.05 14:06)
You're really not giving as good as you're getting you know.

(1.11.05 14:13)
Maybe you don't agree with everything I say. He's being offensive to me and I'm returning the favour. I'm off to deliver some parcels and various letters. Thanks.

(1.11.05 14:17)
that from the 'man' who said I must have a 'tiny brain' as I didn't agree with (quite frankly blew his claims out of the water) something stupid and simplistic that he said a while back.

(1.11.05 17:20)
thumperGeoff: Is Portia going to help you with the parcels and letters?

(1.11.05 23:12)
Watching you all mud-wrestling like this would be much more fun if you were all naked.

(2.11.05 11:51)
Eh? What's going on? Are all these comments backwards? Have some been deleted?
This is ace! It's just like the old days.

(2.11.05 12:08)
It's most confuzzled me Inky..i'm just waiting for one of them to slap the other or start pulling hair!

(2.11.05 12:23)
WTF.

Can I have some salt and vinegar snacks Menace? Ta.
*goes back to sick-bed*

(2.11.05 13:17)
Does anybody ever read the front page anyway?
I did one of those favourite thingys once actually - and as someone said it was just luck that Kates was the one that stuck.
thumped you sound like a jealous child, oh - and fuck right off with the thieeving scouser jibe.

(2.11.05 15:01)
Sorry I'm late.
But what a bugger - I didn't know thumped was you, FoCoMo. I liked (and like) FCM, but I always reckoned thumped was Mr Angry for no clear reason. And a fool to boot. I'm v disappointed ....

(2.11.05 15:18)
oh, come now. he's not the only one with a disappointing fuck-up of an alter-ego.

(2.11.05 16:41)
You can say that again!

(2.11.05 16:43)
... and again.

(2.11.05 17:10)
...and yet again...(never one to be left out)

(2.11.05 17:15)
Kind of shocked, FoCoMo and kind of feel a bit of an arse. Truth be told, your blog was a good laugh, and your banter was always a giggle. You're obviously a smart guy and we both know that if you do work in a mail room, its only transitory.

With regard to the multiple personalities, i don't think thats too much of a shock. Everyone must know that Sammyface and i are one and the same by now but you have to agree, there are exceptional differences between you and thumper. If found out, it was always going to cause a bit of a stir, which can be entertaining in itself sometimes.
However, having been in contact with you before, i am surprised at the personalness of some of your jibes. Pete, for example is a top top guy, and is a real anchor for advice, chit-chat and general talking shite. (i've checked slovenia pete, the women are all really lazy).

For what its worth, re: menace and Kate, Miss Evans was one of the first blogs i read and was a chief motivation for starting my own. I think she wields influence, if indeed she does, because she genuinely is a very nice blogger to read. In all likelihood, the blogger named FoCoMo had a similar influence, as did people like Sammyface, Hoverfrog, Chintzy and the list goes on until you eventually reach me. they all do it in their own way of course, but its there, borne purely out of their own efforts/ skills etc.
With regard to menace, i genuinely never know where i stand so i avoid commenting, unless i i feel the compunction (have i made that up?) to do so. Sometimes his (and i am sure you've been told this before menace)sarcasm comes across as unfairly rude and whatnot, but i find myself reading his blog nonetheless, because well, he does write well. I can't help myself!

Sorry for waffling and all, the teeth are blunt. And if anyone think i am arse sniffing, mmm, i'm not.

(2.11.05 17:22)
Lazy you say Old Boy? That just won't do. Have you tried lithuania? What about Estonia? Some of them must have energy...

(2.11.05 17:26)
Since the breakdown of geography, they should be able to walk over in no time too....

(2.11.05 21:10)
I am soooooo foncused!!! Is anybody going to get naked and wrestle? I'm all for conspiracy theories, but something is definitely wrong here. I'm going back to my own little twisted blog and hope for the best.

(3.11.05 01:26)
ohhh look
so you had to have a 'nice' blog to try and make people like you and all credit to you, you managed to fool everyone
and then you make your argument, get offensive and delete most of your comments. how clever
personally, i don't read kates or menaces blog and i don't even think either of them have ever commented on mine...
stench - which blogs you read/comment on/add to your favourites is a matter of personal choice
and it seems some people have better taste than others

(3.11.05 07:27)
Erm, Quips, I think you know what I do for a living, but anyway..

Thanks for your comments. Very few people here know the full story, so I think most of you are being a little quick to judge.

This isn't the first time Menace, KateEvans, AMP and I have argued and some rather negative and hurtful stuff has been said on both sides.

There's not a lot of objectivity going on and there's more than one person getting attacked here. It certainly takes two to tango.

AMP is no saint. He makes veiled insults dripping with sarcasm about my other half and I respond by attacking something similarly close to his heart.

To be honest, I really don't think I can get through to most of you as your minds seem already made up. Mine certainly is.

(3.11.05 07:39)
....and, to add, anyone who thinks that a blog is always true and accurate representation of a person is wrong as can be seen from the differences between Focomo and Thumped.

Judging someone by weblog is not only lazy and inaccurate, but incredibly unreliable and not a good measure of a person.

There's no way of checking unless you actually meet up. I'm sure the reality is often very different from what you expect. I know pog, laurieloo, The Erudite Baboon must have been startled to realise that such an arsehole (thumped) could, in fact, be relatively laid back, unprovacative and positive in reality. There were no arguments or bad words when I met them, that's for certain.

It seems like a lot of people who have commented here find it difficult to differentiate between reality/the real world and fiction/blogs. Another blogger on here put it very well when she plastered "it depends what you mean by real" at the top of her blog. How true.

I stand by my comments. I think and know that KateEvans and Menace exert a disproportionate influence here and have been every bit as cutting and scathing to me as I have been to them.

I'm going to leave it there, but feel free to offer your tuppeny's worth as I'm sure many of you will.

(3.11.05 09:08)
In response, FoCoMo (the one of the two blogs i certainly prefer[red]), yeah i do know what you do, but again, its kind of based on what you've told me. Given your knowledge of the subject though, i am very much inclined to believe you, just so you know.

Generally speaking, i agree with what you say on the topic of blogs. They can be misconstrued, exagerrated, twisted and moulded. A person with no or little confidence may well be a charm mikado over the net. Its just the nature of the game. In retaliation, however, i always try and brooch this, with a bit of trepidation. People always have a "reason" for blogging, for their type of writing, for how sociable or unsociable they choose to be. I like to think, and i am sure you would probably agree, that FoCoMo was the nearest extension of your "real" personality. It was far more natural, and a completely enjoyable read. It would be a pity to see that side of you leave. Thumped, I would like to know your reason for it.

That aside, however you might become irked by anything on 20six, like KateEvans etc etc, you said it yourself, it's fiction, its not "real", let it slide.

(3.11.05 09:17)
Seriously when is the bitch slapping gonna start?!

(3.11.05 09:24)
(Planned joke)

My sister used to play with her Slovenian Families.

"Arf"

(3.11.05 09:37)
Well, it took a while to find an objective and considered comment on here, but it was worth the wait.
(No, not the 'Slovenian Families' gag)

(3.11.05 09:39)
and thanks, Quips.

(3.11.05 09:56)
Blimey. Life doesn't revolve around blogs.

(3.11.05 10:16)
You AREN'T working!

(3.11.05 10:22)
thumped; I feel left out, can you have a go at me for a while?

(3.11.05 10:25)
loadofoldtosh2: I like your blog. I have no problem with you or, indeed, 99% of people who blog here. Sorry I couldn't help.

(3.11.05 10:43)
i AM.
Sort of.

(3.11.05 10:56)
Fibber..

(3.11.05 11:54)
Thumper, I have never claimed to be a saint, but I can say with absolute honesty that I didn't even know you had another half, never mind anything about her to throw insults at her. I'm not the sort to stoop to insulting someone's partner, I'll go for the person not people connected to them.
Yes, we have had arguments before, but I've never started them, and niether have I ever went for your wife/girl/boy whatever, I don't know anything about them. I never knew you as focomo, and the only contact I have had knowingly with you is in these childish arguments over a vendetter which you have against other people.
I have noted you don't avoid being abusive about Kate to try to get to menace tho, so maybe you should look at yourself before you throw stones.

(3.11.05 12:18)
Aw I always miss all the exciting stuff...

(3.11.05 12:28)
Has everyone had their tupenny's? Yes?
Good.

(3.11.05 12:29)
What a lot of bruised alter egos there are round here!

(3.11.05 12:45)
AMP, I never claimed you were a saint. Nevertheless, many would appear to think so.

If you weren't insulting my other half, why the insults about Slovenia? My other half is Slovenian and I can only infer that your barbed and loaded words were directed at her. Maybe you are unaware of how insulting your comments about the "East" and "Communism" are, but they are loaded terms steeped in propaganda and prejudice and you were using them disparagingly towards her. If you have no idea why Slovenia was raised, why get involved?

Well, I have no idea to be honest. Maybe good intentions or a misplaced sense of wanting to protect. My animosity towards menace and KateEvans had absolutely nothing to do with you but I can only compare you to an old, interfering, dried-up spinster who likes nothing more but to stick her nose into other people's business. If anyone 'started' anything, it was you. I had no beef with you until you decided to be the moral adjudicator, albeit uninvited.

When I first questioned the validity and reasining behind Kate Evans's entry on the home page, it was not an attack.

When she responded unnecessarily in negative and rude terms to my legitimate query, I re-wrote my article in harsher terms - the only entry on my blog. You call that an attack. I call it provoked, petty one-upmanship.

I deliberately never criticise KateEvans's blog because, despite my feelings about her continued, un-asked for presence on the front page, I think her blog is witty, interesting, funny and fair.

When I disagree or feel like criticising menace, I just go for him. When I disagree with KateEvans's entry on the front page, I solely criticise that. They are big enough to defend themselves without your assistance.

In the past, I've said to you that I think you are "essentially good" and your blog is "harmless" so I'd ask you to stay out of an argument that, crucially, does not concern you.

(3.11.05 12:46)
Yes, I've had my tuppeny's now. I won't give any more credence to this.

(3.11.05 13:22)
One last tuppeny - you made some offensive comments to Pete too.

(3.11.05 13:30)
I did. It's tit-for-tat.

(3.11.05 14:03)
You all seem to have had exciting days!
The most 'exciting' thing to happen to me today is find that someone left me negative feedback on ebay due solely to the fact that they thought they could shut me up by giving me a partial refund. As I stated in reply, I never knew that was to buy my silence!
Which is most exciting? Don't ask me.

(3.11.05 14:16)
Ahem. I asked Kate to compile that list as many other bloggers had done before her. When the hours I work for 20six were reduced due to budget constraints I took the decision to devote my time to customer support issues and leave a perfectly good (in my humble opinion) list on the blogs and bloggers page. Kate never asked for the list to be left there for eternity and it's all credit to her that despite the months of banging on about it (yes, I know what's been said - they call me the oracle, you know) she has never pestered me to take it down, although I'm sure she wishes it would disappear from the "front page" (aka the content page).
As soon as I do get time - and I'm hoping that will be soon - I'll be replacing it with a list of blogs to help new users feel their way around 20six. (And no, I wouldn't dare to assume I have the "right" to do this - but I am contracted to make decisions about the site within the time I have. I'm sure you - and others - could do a far superior list to me - even if that list did turn out to be a selection of your alter egos - but them's the brakes I'm afraid).
In the future - when we have another platform update - I hope we'll have an automated list that will satiate - or, at least, fail to irritate - the rather large, and dare I say paranoid, egos that tend to surface on sites like this one. Until then, I'll get around to changing the list when I can (you may find this hard to believe, but we have a few rather more serious issues going on a 20six most of the time!).
As for alter egos - what a great feature of blogging they are! However, it's best to be mindful that if you meet people in the real world those cheeky personalities suddenly become a tad more threatening. Perhaps you haven't considered that developing positive offline relationships and then counteracting them with negative online ones can actually creep people out in a fairly serious way. It's for this reason that I have advised the people who have been affected by recent events in relation to this comment thread, to keep me posted on any developments they find threatening, upsetting or inappropriate. I have also advised my superiors on the matter (sorry to pass on this information in such a public way, but as I don't know which "blogger" to deal with, it seems to be the best way of getting this message across).
And, finally, the "wielded influence" you speak of ... everything that has occurred on the site in terms of cliques and popularity has happened organically. And no net community is without its most popular characters - or the individuals who find that popularity distasteful. If there was any kind of favouritism going on I'd have kept that pesky monkey out of the top spot and murdered poutrelle. End of.

I hope you find this comment "real" enough and if you have any further issues with 20six and the direction the community is going in, please feel free to approach me directly. I'm quite certain that opening a dialogue with the people who operate 20six would be more constructive than levelling the kind of insults that brought me to this particular comment thread in the first place.
Jo.

(3.11.05 14:27)
Well said. I agree with everything in this post.

(3.11.05 15:10)
Are you lot still at it ? I'm trying to get some shut-eye.

(3.11.05 17:29)
Pssshhhht! I go on a small trip to London and look what I miss! Tsk...

(3.11.05 19:55)
Oh man, I've just missed Eastenders to read all of this! It was so worth it,
Menace, Kate I'm popping over with some sweeties, if you've got all this influence I wanna be on your good side?!

(9.11.05 16:32)
My God. I had no idea 20six was so.....seething.
(I know I know, this is exceptional).
I haven't had any arguments in 20six yet, and certainly no slanging matches. Ask me, it seems a friendly place on the whole. I find the idea of alter-egos with radically different online personalities....unsettling, but hey ho, whatever.
And I really like the fact that people are of all different temperaments, some a bit flinty and aloof, some opinionated, some easy-going etc.....that diversity is what keeps it fresh, for me. There's always a thrill of tension around most blogs, but this is the first time I've seen it boil over....
Bloody hell, it was fun reading these comments.

(9.11.05 17:05)
There's always a first time Mikeyboy, so don't push it

(9.11.05 17:05)
Very well said, JoJo!!!! I found the comment thread quite...unnerving. This is not the real essence of 20six. Full stop.

(9.11.05 17:27)
Yeah yeah, millionpieces, bring it on. In fact, I believe I've fought you elsewhere (over the honour of a fine, floaty young lady) and I know how easily you can be trounced, young slip-of-a-lad. *flares nostrils*

(9.11.05 17:28)
I think that people should have the freedom to speak clearly, and - rightly or wrongly - they have done so here. A forum such as 20Six will always bring about bastard children, and - though they may not constitute the 'essence' of 20six (whatever that may be) - they do embody a fairly necessary by-product. I am not condoning what some people have said on this thread, but I think the freedom to say it is just as valid as the freedom to talk about new boots, what one had for lunch, or posting Googled pictures of your granny's first name.

Personally, I have found some of the 20sux disputes considerably more nourishing than a lot of the more lighthearted threads; and think the outlet more of a thing of beauty for not having so many 'full stops'. But then, to each his own.

(9.11.05 17:45)
Mike, you know I'd win you if fighting over floaty!

(9.11.05 19:03)
*clears throat delicately* Chaps, do I get a say in this at all?!

(9.11.05 19:06)
Katja, you know that if its up to me you do, as I value every word you say, but that mike, he's just a thug, I hear... *ahem*

(9.11.05 19:08)
Ooh, mudslinging! Marvellous.

(9.11.05 20:14)

(9.11.05 21:04)
See floaty, he is just full of threats and mean thoughts, he is such an aggresive character, you're best staying away from him.
*whispers to mike*
'ere, you boy, less of tha' or I'll see to it that you and yo clumsy buttafingers have a nasty accent, awright mate?

(11.11.05 00:21)
WHOA WHOA WHOA!!!

Hold the heck on...I'm trying to follow this and there's mud chucking, bad mouthing and hail marys... but I htink I am getting the jist of this whole debate:
Someone needs a toque? I am drowning in frigging things over here...

(11.11.05 16:14)
Haha!
What's going on here then?
Who wants a fight?...
And who posted me this stupid Spanish hat?...

(14.11.05 23:50)
I'M THUMPED! & SO's MY MONKEY!
I'm way too confused about all of this. I've no idea who's who in here.
Is it possible that it's all the same person? Is 20six so fucking desperate for members that there are only 3 of us on here, and 2 of them are everyone else? Or have I just started another conspiracy theory?
Mind you, it's ironic that this features in "Blogs of the Month" don't you think?

(15.11.05 00:10)
About the fave list. (And, in a futile attempt to get this thread back on topic)
I'm a bit disappointed that it's gone. Purely selfish reasons, as my blog was on the final list.
All I can say is, that apart from the first few weeks of it being posted, I really didn't see much more of a rise in visitors. It did inspire me to write a little bit more often, but then the lazyitis broke out again.
I used to think it was a popularity contest, simply because the same old names kept popping up, but, the final list in my opinion, brought a lot of rarely read blogs to the fore. It also saw the demise of a few of them shortly after. If this had something to do with the increase in traffic, I don't know, but it didn't put me off, nor feel that my blog was superior to anyone elses. Besides, in general, I only read my own favourites, and perhaps link to other blogs in the comments that I find in those. Occasionaly I look through the home pages and trawl through whats there. But, that requires a whole new level of boredom, and that's exactly how I ended up here.
In my few dealings with you, Thumped, I have always considered you a fine chap.(I felt honoured to be included in your always short Fave lists) That opinion hasn't changed, just please, lighten up a bit. I didn't read focomo, and I wish that I had, as the comments that I saw on other blogs were those of a very personable bloke. Many others agree on this thread.
'Nuff said.

(16.11.05 12:40)
Can't really be bothered to read all this. Is it me who is taking this all too seriously or is it all of you lot?

AMP: I thought, due to our email exchange, that we were coolio now? Obviously not! Seems like you're taking notes from me and being a little...shall we say..Janus-faced yourself.

Poops: Ta. I hope you, at least, understand that my menace was directed at menace and his belle and not anyone else until they stuck their oars in.

I'm glad they changed that list. It took four months of arguing and sniping to get it done but, with hindsight, it probably would have been a lot more straightforward just to email head honcho in the first place. Not half as much fun though.

Seems like stench got his prayers answered anyway.

(16.11.05 12:56)
Thumper, I think you should read it properly - but you can't be bothered can you?

(16.11.05 13:26)
No and I'm going to resist the temptation to ask you very kindly to keep out of something which does not concern you.

(16.11.05 13:27)
Oh shut up, you're boring

(16.11.05 13:28)
Ah, I assumed AMP was talking about thumped. Sorry Pete. And sorry Laurieloo. Bit presumptuous of me. In my defence, I'm on the defensive.

(16.11.05 13:32)
ok

(16.11.05 15:45)
I don't know Mr Stench. I come in here to visit the subversive underbelly of 20six, and I see a veritable party going on - complete with fighting and everything.
I never thought you'd pander to the masses. You'll be doing handstands and 'accidentally' showing your knickers next.

(16.11.05 17:47)
Thumped - my prayers answered ? Did you not see the second link in the original entry ? That would make you and Sammyface, then.
Lilo - I would like to retort, but I've just gone and spilt milk all over my flimsy top, and now my nipples are showing through the fabric.

(16.11.05 17:50)
oh i see.....not moaning that no one likes you, i do apologise. really. you just don't like me?

(16.11.05 17:59)
I like you just fine. I'm just expressing dismay that the latter seems underappreciated, and the former - more the soft-porny aspect of it than anything else - seems overappreciated. And I am also disappointed that I'm not surprised.

(16.11.05 18:03)
On stench's point, I have a non-20six site, and it has had 3 comments in total, ever. Yet I'd say thats the one I put the more effort into what I write, and is of a higher standard, so I know what you mean there.

(16.11.05 18:09)
pete, were they all me as well?

(16.11.05 18:12)
Sammy, nope, hehe, although I know what you're thinking of...

Petee came up trumps!

(5.4.06 17:38)
Everybody has got to take half-an-hour out of their day to re-read this entry and its comments. It is pure class! I think Lilo sneaks in and steals the show at the end though.

(25.4.06 23:45)
Yes. As she is wont to do.

(26.4.06 04:40)
I am wont to hold your hand.

(26.4.06 11:09)
Aw. That's sweet. But at some point, I am wont to break free.

Can I just say what a aid to seek out somebody who actually is aware of what they’re speaking about on the internet. You positively know the right way to carry a problem to gentle and make it important. Extra people have to learn this and understand this side of the story. I cant imagine youre not more well-liked since you positively have the gift.very goodpost, i actually love this web site, carry on it
